That history prevents an overly simple “untouched wilderness” reading. Paths, route choices and some open areas belong to a lived territory, while present-day protection adds another layer to how visitors should move through it.

The Caroux has a long history of landscape and wildlife protection. The French dossier cites the protected status of the Héric site and later wildlife-management measures, including the return of Mediterranean mouflon. The apparent wildness visible in the video is therefore also connected to decades of management.
In areas where access is regulated to reduce disturbance, staying on appropriate routes and limiting unnecessary noise can have real conservation value. A lack of tourist infrastructure in a section should not automatically be treated as something that needs to be “improved”.
A ravine is a compact lesson in slope and microclimate
Within a short distance, a ravine can combine running water, moved blocks, shaded vegetation and steep changes of aspect. Looking for those transitions explains why two nearby sections may differ in temperature, humidity and grip.
The Caroux also lies where Mediterranean and more mountainous impressions meet. Vegetation, shade and rock condition can therefore help interpret the local microclimate shown by the film, while remaining evidence of that particular day rather than a forecast for a future walk.
