A terrace progresses through successive details: structure, slope, drainage, ventilation, guardrails and the junction with the house. Each stage must preserve what was prepared before.
Each terrace extension needs to retain the same drainage, ventilation and expansion principles. Adding boards without checking the supporting structure or façade junctions can create places where water collects or moves toward the building.
The stage also provides an opportunity to inspect completed work. Loose fixings, split timber, irregular gaps or movement in a support are easier to correct before full closure. Progress should not prevent earlier stages from being reviewed.
The sequence devoted to the deck, its supports and drainage can be read as a chain of decisions. Support conditions, fasteners, tolerances, weather and continuity with neighbouring work influence the final quality as much as the tool visible on camera.
Each new terrace stage must remain compatible with the whole
A terrace is not simply a sequence of deck boards. Supporting structure, slope, drainage, airflow, guarding and the junction with the house form one system. Changing a detail during construction can therefore affect several components that are already installed.
The video is useful for following that progression and preserving a record of decisions. It does not provide universal dimensions or a ready-made compliance solution: sizes, fixings and protections depend on the actual geometry, materials and rules applicable to the project.
Because this stage follows earlier terrace work, it is also a useful moment to compare levels and support movement before adding more boards. Small differences are easier to correct while the structure remains visible and accessible.
