Before it became a novel, I Walked on Mars was a vision.

A city to imagine. Faces to recognize. People to love. A world to make credible.

This colour A4 photo book gathers part of that visual imagination: the images that accompanied the writing, shaped the characters, refined the settings and gave flesh to the universe of David and Stella.

This first visual volume therefore does not show Mars only as a destination. It also explores the long road that leads there: the selection of the candidates, the study of their profiles, the first bonds that form between them, the learning, the training, the doubts, the ordeals and all the earthly preparation required before leaving the known world.

For before setting foot on Martian soil, one must first be chosen, prepared, tested, transformed, and then accept departure toward a mission where every gesture, every procedure, every decision was rehearsed long before launch.

Some sequences are deliberately presented as visual variations, almost as cinematographic studies: a gaze that changes, a hand that moves, a silence that deepens, a distance that little by little disappears. In the relationship between David and Stella, these nuances matter. They show how attraction, trust, tenderness and love are not born in a single image, but through a succession of almost imperceptible moments.

Between technical research, human adventure and love story, these images created by artificial intelligence open the doors to a world that the author first had to see within before he could tell it.
